Change Your Life with One Single Thing

August 12, 2017

One thing you can start doing today to change your life is this: believe in your abilities.

Remind yourself in challenging situations to reflect on what you’re capable of. When dealing with difficult people remind yourself you can be patient or when feeling vulnerable remind yourself you are capable of being brave.

Being consistent with this practice is not easy and being open to imperfection is key. By focusing on your abilities and detaching from the “perfect” outcome the distractions from taking action are eliminated. Trying to control the steps to an exact outcome leads to disappointment and at times confusion about what to do next because there are many ways to accomplish the same goal.

We all have that unique gift to go out and touch people and effect people. Understand that gift, protect that gift, appreciate that gift, utilize that gift…you already have it. ” – Denzel Washington

When you believe in your abilities you stop the comparison game before it even begins. It doesn’t matter what another person would say or do when you stop thinking and start doing. Overanalyzing ourselves versus others can cause us to stay stagnant, never testing our abilities to know how we want to grow.

Want to find out more about what you’re capable of? Coaching provides a safe and confidential space to define and develop your current abilities. In one-on-one sessions with a coach, you are able to cultivate a better understanding of your goals and how to start believing in your abilities to accomplish them. Contact us to get started!
